LiteBite Horse Muzzle on beautiful Skye

My Horse Keeps Removing His Muzzle – What Can I Do?

This is a pest but you can't blame them, sometimes their paddock companions pull it off which you might not believe until you have seen them do it.

The kind of muzzles that come with their own headpiece are especially easy to get off so the first thing is a solid fieldsafe headcollar that fits.  Although the LiteBite muzzle velcro will give way under a horse size pull, the actual headcollar can still be a danger to them if it gets caught up somewhere, it must give.

So check the fit as best you can and then move on to the only thing I have found works. Take a small loop of string and plait or sew it firmly into the mane at the top of the poll.  Then thread the headcollar top strap through it.  If they are hogged you are sunk.

We have found that this works most of the time but horses being horses, they might still find a way.   Let us all know if you have a better plan that works.
